Mercedes-Benz India under the Impact of Global Recession

Global financial crisis badly hit Mercedes-Benz India which is in the face of lower sales and losing its primacy in Indian car industry as compared to previous year 2008. According to the Wilfried Aulbur, Managing Director and CEO of, Mercedes-Benz India, the company has sold only 2,650 cars till October 2009 while in 2008 the number of car sale was 3625. However there seems recovery in car sales in the luxury segment.

Aulbur also added that during the first half of current year credit unavailability caused poor impact over the company’s sales but there has been a change in attitude and confidence is back and company must be expecting some good numbers. However he turned down to discuss sales projection.

Currently the car maker has strength of 300 workers in R&D centres of Bangalore and Pune, however this circle is expected to expand in coming year to induct more people and to generate more employment opportunities.

Aulbur was commenting over company’s sales fluctuations at the launching ceremony of E350 CDI BlueEfficiency, powered by diesel engine. However some time ago when company launched the petrol variant of E350 CDI BlueEfficiency, the number of car sales reached 130 within the short time period of 45 days.

Google and Tivo Touching New Horizons of TV Advertisement

Google has finally reached an agreement with Tivo after placing a bid for enhanced accountability and better commercial output for TV advertisement through its worldwide online network. Google TV Ads is two years old adventure initiated to provide online auction service where advertiser will be charged on CPM basis.

Eric Obenzinger, a Google spokesman said, "TiVo helps us to more finely calculate how many people are actually watching an ad. It gives us a large footprint of data".

Financial dealings over this great pact are being kept confidential. According to Tivo vice president Todd Juenger, Google will have different ad data after subscribing to TiVo’s Stop//Watch or Power//Watch ratings services, and then Google will pass on this ad data to other advertisers, who can access particular ads and times without investing money in buying huge clusters.

While discussing the commercial benefits, Tivo will enjoy after this deal, Juenger said, "What you get is a commercial rating for the ads you run on Google".

Over 100 billion TV ads impressions are expected to run on Google, in close association with cable channels including CNBC, MSNBC, Hallmark Channel, GSN, Syfy and CBS College Sports.

Quarterly financial report of Tivo is expected to announce about this new relationship between Tivo and Google relationship soon.

Windows 8 Expected Release in 2012

According to the Microsoft roadmaps recently revealed at the Professional Developers Conference held in Los Angeles, a major update in Windows server is being expected to launch in 2012. Though Sinofsky simply refused to give any related detail by saying that "I didn’t say any of the words–Windows 8–those were all your words", while questioned about this great release, but slideshow at PDC clearly pointing towards the coming update. Speculations about this great release were made at Microsoft Kitchen, a blog which first revealed the news.
